Mirjam Evers Mirjam Evers

After moving to the United States from her homeland of the Netherlands, Mirjam received her BFA from Long Island University/Southampton College where she majored in public relations and advertising with a minor in photography. Shortly after graduating, Mirjam landed her first producing job and spent 4 years working for pro photographer, James Porto. She then worked as a freelance producer for several major editorial and advertising clients including Reebok, Kodak, Nike, Motorola, Sprint, Compaq and Wired, Sports Illustrated Swimsuit, TIME, & Newsweek Magazines. Mirjam then went on to run American Photo Magazine’s acclaimed Mentor Series for 5 years where she produced and directed over 100 worldwide photography workshops. She is also a freelance photographer specializing in environmental portraits and travel, documentary and adventure photography. During the course of her career, she has traveled to over 50 countries capturing the diversity of people and cultures in some of the most exotic places in the world. Her photographs were published in PC Photo, Outdoor Photographer, PDN Magazine, American Photo, Popular Photography, Hamptons, Photographer’s Forum “Best of Photography Annual” and International Expeditions. Corporate clients include Nikon, Lensbaby, Lowepro, Epson and Visa Card. Mirjam is also a founding member of Photo Quest Adventures, a unique photography workshop company created by a group of professional photographers who conduct intimate, specialized digital photography workshops around the globe.

Mark Kettenhoffen Mark Kettenhofen

has been a Nikon photographer for seven years. He has covered: NASA shuttle launches, Olympics, Presidential inaugurations, and the Republican and Democratic National Conventions. He was the Team Photographer for an American expedition to the Everest Base Camp for the 40th Anniversary of the first American to summit the mountain. He assisted photographers from Newsweek, US News & World Report, Sports Illustrated, and National Geographic. He was a Navy photojournalist for 20 years, covering events and wars in more than 27 countries. He won numerous photography awards including the NPPA, Military Photographer of the Year. He is presently working on a book project with, fellow Photographer, Bill Fortney: America from 500 Feet II: A Re-discovering America Project due out in November 2008. This is his 10th workshop.


DEPUTY BLACK TEAM LEADER:

Brien Aho Brien Aho

A proud father of 2 lovely daughters Sophia and Bailey, is a native of St. Paul, Minnesota. He is a nine-year veteran of the “Black Team” at the Eddie Adams Workshop and was a student on the 2003 purple team. Brien joined the Navy in 1991 and has had the pleasure of photographing in 38 countries. An instructor at the Defence Information School from 1996 thru 2001, he helped to mold the future of military photographers. After graduating from the 2002 Advanced Military Photojournalism program held at Newhouse School of Communications, Syracuse University, Brien started working as a combat photojournalist at Combat Camera, Atlantic where he completed tours in Iraq, Afghanistan and Guantanamo Bay Cuba. He is a four-time first place winner at the Military Photographer of the Year competition in different categories and he recently won the prestigious Communicator Award for “The Road to Recovery” a photo documentary about burn patients recovery. President of the D.C. chapter of the National Association of Naval Photography, Brien produces their annual 3 day photography workshop “The D.C. Shoot Off”. an open event that invites all DOD and military photographers. Brien has been published in numerous magazines and newspapers such as National Geographic, Time, Newsweek, GQ, Washington Post and the New York Times. His work appears in many books pertaining to the war in Iraq like the critically acclaimed ‘This Is Our War” a photo documentary the Iraq war by military photographers. Brien is currently working at the Defence Media Agency as the Director of Multimedia.

Mark Suban Mark Suban

is a full-time professional photographer working for Nikon Professional Services. Based in the Washington, D.C. area, he supports other pro photographers, including newspaper, industrial, police and forensic, medical photography, commercial studios, audio-visual production houses and the U.S. government. Prior to joining Nikon, Mark edited photos for the Associated Press and coached six AP photographers equipped with HD video cameras helping them produce video/multimedia packages. Mark’s photography roots stem from the U.S. Air Force where he proudly served for 22 years. He managed photographers for presidential inaugurations, taught and developed multimedia curriculum, planned and ran workshops, contests and supervised Air Force multimedia centers. His personal passion for photojournalism is fueled by shooting weddings and events. Mark stays up on digital trends through professional consulting, web design, video editing and photo editing for other professional photographers.
